- In a medium pot, whisk together baking soda and cornstarch. Add the water and stir until smooth.
- Place the pot over medium heat and stir constantly. The mixture will begin to thicken, keep going until it looks like mashed potatoes. Remove from the heat.
- Shape the dough into a ball and cover it with a damp cloth. Let it rest and cool for about 15 minutes.
- Roll the dough out on a flat surface to about ¼-inch thickness. Use your favorite cookie cutters to create shapes.
- With a straw, gently poke a hole at the top of each ornament so you can hang them later. Allow the ornaments to air dry for 24 hours, flipping them once so they dry evenly.
