Ingredients

  • 2 cups baking soda
  • 1 cup corn starch
  • 1 1/4 cup water

Equipment

  • cookie cutters

Method

  1. In a medium pot, whisk together baking soda and cornstarch. Add the water and stir until smooth.
  2. Place the pot over medium heat and stir constantly. The mixture will begin to thicken, keep going until it looks like mashed potatoes. Remove from the heat.
  3. Shape the dough into a ball and cover it with a damp cloth. Let it rest and cool for about 15 minutes.
  4. Roll the dough out on a flat surface to about ¼-inch thickness. Use your favorite cookie cutters to create shapes.
  5. With a straw, gently poke a hole at the top of each ornament so you can hang them later. Allow the ornaments to air dry for 24 hours, flipping them once so they dry evenly.
