Cook Time 45 minutes
Total Time 1 hour 15 minutes
Servings: 2 Dozen

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup water

Method

  1. Pre-heat your oven to 300°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cinnamon, salt, and flour.
  3. Add the water and mix, then use your hands to knead until a smooth dough forms.
  4. Sprinkle some flour onto a flat surface or counter, then place the dough on top.
  5. Roll out the dough to about ¼-inch thickness.
  6. Use cookie cutters (or fun shapes!) to cut out your ornaments, placing each onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. If you’d like to add imprinted designs (stamps, or carve by hand), do it now while the dough is still soft.
  8. Create a hanging hole near the top of each ornament (a straw, toothpick, or pencil works great) to thread twine/ribbon later. (Skip this step if you are making faux cookies)
  9. Bake in the oven at 300°F for about 45 minutes to 1 hour, check at 45 minutes. Let them cool completely.
  10. Once cooled, thread twine or ribbon through each hole, tie a loop at the end, and hang or gift as desired. Another option is to decorate with puff paint.
